About

Hello reader, and thanks for visiting my blog! I love cooking and writing, and care deeply about positive social change (though with a –mostly- healthy peppering of cynicism), so this is my attempt to combine these worlds. I started writing the blog after taking a sabbatical from my career in international development, when, driven by a curiosity for all things Middle Eastern, I went exploring the sights, sounds and tastes of that region. I spent some time in Lebanon, in a food-based social enterprise, before taking up the slightly more challenging position of volunteer Ecumenical Accompanier and human rights monitor in Hebron, occupied Palestine, with the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (http://eappi.org/en) . Although that experience has inspired my more recent posts, the views I share here are entirely my own. For 2017, to highlight 50 years since the Israeli occupation of Palestine, I have decided to cook 50 Palestinian recipes.

I hope you enjoy your ‘user experience’ on my site, and I would love to hear your thoughts.
